Why spend hours cooking and stuffing a huge bird on Thanksgiving Thursday when you could have say, Mahi Mahi, beef filet or maybe some Marzipan stuffed apples braised in goose fat.
Numerous restaurants around Palm Springs will be open this Thanksgiving, offering up a varied table that reaches well beyond roast turkey — though don’t worry, there are ample choices in that category as well. Rick’s Restaurant on Palm Canyon Drive will have its traditional all-you-can-eat helpings of turkey, honey-glazed ham, prime rib and roast pork for $29.99.
A little farther south and quite a bit further down the cost scale at Elmer’s, Thanksgiving dinner will only set you back $11.59, (not sure if this includes tax and tip, though it likely does not.) The low cost also leaves out pumpkin pie. Those calories will set you back another $1.99.
Perhaps the most lavish and creative restaurant table will be found at Workshop Kitchen + Bar, the new dining spot in the Uptown Design District that has a sort of monastic austerity as the setting for its carefully crafted dishes. Its Thursday meal includes items like yam soup and pan-roasted diver scallops. The meal is $66 a person and easily climbs to $110 for those who opt for the wine pairing.Gratuity and tax are extra.
